Red Ruffle Top

Tuesday, September 26, 2017

You guys, I received so many compliments on this ruffle top when I wore it yesterday. It is so flowy and cute, and the color is perfect for your transition into fall. I paired it with my favorite leopard print heels and my new bag, as well as my favorite Burberry scarf. It makes for a perfect "warm fall day" outfit, which I am sure will come in handy since the temperature has been ridiculously hot lately.

Now let me get into life updates. I have really wanted to share with you that we are moving, again! This time into a long-term home until we outgrow it years down the line if we have multiple kids (but I cannot think that far ahead, plus it is important to note that not everyone is able to have children and that we cannot just take it for granted by assuming that it will happen to us). That being said, there are quite a few projects that we have to do in this home, so you probably will not see photos of anything finished just yet. The way that I fell into getting this home was seriously a series of bizarre coincidental circumstances. There were multiple occasions where getting this house seemed as though it was never going to happen, but some way, some how, the deal was presented back on the table. I like to think that God (the universe, fate, etc.) had a hand in this, and for some reason just wanted to make sure that this was the house where I would eventually start my family and gather several wrinkles on my face. I was hesitant in talking about the process due to the uncertainty and the fact that it is a rather humbling one. This is my second "home" owned home (if you count the condo in Montreal, which by the way is still for sale and you should buy it haha), and at the age of 23, and in a country where purchasing a home comes as a challenge for so many (not to bore you with the fact, but purchasing a home in Canada is much more difficult than other countries such as the United-States), I do recognize that I am very lucky.

I hope that you are having a fantastic day and week. Enjoy the summer weather in fall, while it lasts!

Banana Republic top (similar)
Guess necklace (similar)

This outfit is just the right amount of casual. Change the shoes and it can be a great work outfit, or keep the shoes and you can even wear this out to dinner.

I am absolutely in love with the uniqueness of this top, and as you all know, I am also obsessed (in the actual meaning of the word) with these pants - I own multiple pairs and this is why you see them so often #sorrynotsorry. The exact top sold out fast online, however I have found similar here and I am sure that if you go into the actual Banana Republic Factory store, you will find it there as well.

In other news, I hope you are having a great week so far. I have some super exciting new to share next week that I am seriously busting at the seams about.

How To Make the Most of a Rainy Day

Tuesday, September 19, 2017

Rainy days can be the best days (as long as they do not happen all the time). I am pretty sensitive when it comes to weather. I have suffered through seasonal affective disorder in the past and so creating for an uplifting day during periods of gloomy weather, is extremely important for me. For this reason, when rainy weather strikes, I always make it a point to create for a productive day so that I can take my mind off of the current state outdoors. The following are my top 5 tips for making the most of a rainy day.

1. Include some positivity
Listen to a self-help talk, read an uplifting book, and/or read/listen to the word (if you are into that).

2. Cook something cozy
Such as chili, soup or stew. I would also recommend cooking these in the crockpot so that your kitchen smells like yummy goodness all day long.

3. Declutter
This is an activity proven to bring you satisfaction. To prevent being overwhelmed and to maximize the feeling of accomplishment, choose a small area in your house - such as a closet, desk, etc. I highly recommend decluttering based on the Konmari Method

4. Watch your favorite movie/tv show
Take the time to catch up on a missed episode or watch a classic favorite.

5. Daydream and write down some goals
Take the time to daydream and use that energy to create some weekly and monthly goals by writing them down in your cute planner.

Ruffle Sleeve

Kensie Jeans (similar)

Ruffle sleeves - a trend that I love oh so much! You also all know my obsessed with Banana Republic and my love for anything girly. This top in particular comes in many different colors and is just the right amount of sheer.

A little note about the heels: they are such a great price, are super comfortable and are a great heel height. I would also highly recommend investing in this bag, since it goes well with all fall looks (as you can see me wearing it on repeat).

This look was basically calling my name, since it is a combo of all things that I L-O-V-E.

Local designer top (similar)

Truth be told, I was not planning on posting today. However, I put together a super cute outfit that I just could not help but share. This look would be perfect for a Friday night out! Side note, to be warned, you will most certainly catch me wearing these adorable heels on repeat for quite some time (weather permitting) - I would highly suggest snagging them before they sell out!

I hope you all had a great week filled with blessings. Can't wait to share with you next week's looks!

Bell Sleeve

S.C & Co pants (similar)
Marc Jacobs black chunky heels (similar)

I have said it before and I will say it again, I am in LOVE with the bell-sleeve trend as well as clothing from Banana Republic (the quality is just so good). This sweater is no exception to that rule. When I first spotted this top during the "friends and family" sale, I knew that I just had to have it. I can definitely see myself styling it all fall and winter long. Even if the bell-sleeve trend goes out of style next year, I know that I will still choose to wear this top over and over due to the high quality feel.

I chose to compliment the top with these adorable tassel earrings. If you have read my Instagram lately, you will know I am also in love with the tassel earring trend, despite my husband's thoughts on them (lol). These chunky black heels similarly go well with the outfit and are definitely on-point with what we have seen in the closets of several fashionistas. They were a total sale find, however I have linked similar here.

How To Set Weekly Goals

Monday, September 11, 2017

No, I cannot talk to you about the importance of setting weekly goals from the perspective of a life of great success. Let's face it, I like many have made countless mistakes throughout my young adult life. I can however tell you that since I have ADD (keeping it real here), I know a thing or two about pushing myself to reach my goals and the struggle that comes along with underachieving. For this reason, I decided to write about some key factors surrounding the process of setting said goals, and how to remain positive in spite of it all.

The rule of 3
I do not know if it is actually called this, but basically the concept is that you limit your day to 3 major activities and you learn to say NO to the rest. For example, today I have to 1) attend an appointment, 2) spend time with my husband and 3) work on my blog. It seems like a super simple concept (you might be thinking - duh), but when you actually start to think about it, you would be surprised at how many of us are taking on way too much and neglecting what is important.  I could easily choose to run all of my errands, work some more, and do countless other things, however chances are that somewhere along the way I would get caught up in the busy-ness of my day and would forget to work on things that are truly important when it comes to accomplishing my weekly goals  and ultimately my dreams - such as getting this blog post up for you today so that I can reach my weekly goal of x-number of new followers to realize my ultimate dream of creating an online community AND spending quality time with my husband so that I reach my weekly goal of having a peaceful week in our marriage and ultimately fulfilling my dream of growing closer as soulmates. When your choose your top 3, you create your day surrounding those things and everything else just tends to fall into place.

Minimize decisional energy
I really want to write an entirely new blog post regarding this topic since it has seriously changed my life. I minimize decisional energy by simplifying my wardrobe, eating pretty much the same food on the weekdays, and using the same beauty products. I have also adopted the concept of "one thing in, one thing out" when it comes to all of my possessions, which has brought me such peace. Living this way has really put me in a position where I am forced to live my life for my goals and not my "stuff".

Use ONE organizational system
You will overwhelm yourself if you are using several different apps and/or stationary tools to organize your life. I like to stick with an old-school planner that I lug around with me pretty much everywhere that I go. I am often tempted to try out the "next best" organizational app, but always stop myself from doing so since I know that focusing my energy into using a new tool is going to detract from the actual process of perfected my own methods. You will also need to practice writing your weekly goals somewhere in said planner,  referring to them often, and checking things off as you go (positive reinforcement).

Practice gratitude
I often finish my wordy blog posts with something along these lines, however, I really cannot emphasize it enough. Taking a moment everyday to think of the things that you are grateful for not only helps to relieve stress from your life, but causes you feel like a more accomplished person which in turn helps you set even more goals. This is especially important to do during the toughest times in your life - trust me on this one.

Do you have any tips/ideas for setting weekly goals?

Cargo Dresses for Fall

Thursday, September 7, 2017

Tahari cargo dress (similar)

One trend that looks good on everyone is that of cargo dresses. Regardless of your skin tone, hair color, personal style, or body shape, styling a cargo dress is super easy, flattering, and is sure to give you a put-together look with minimal effort. It is also worth mentioning that this style of dress is super comfy and perfect for September weather, which will ensure that it is a staple in your transitional summer-to-fall wardrobe.

I purchased this dress from Tahari, and found a similar one here. I also styled it with my trusty and classic Louis Vuitton Speedy. I am a sucker for anything leopard print, so of course I chose to wear my favorite Anne Klein flats. The sunglasses I am wearing are seriously super vintage - I mean they are legitimately from the 70s - but was able to find the same but newer version of them here. I have linked everything and/or similar above and below.

In other news, I am still super busy, but am slowly but surely getting a handle on this thing we call life. I hope that you all are having a good back to school/back to work week so far. I also hope that you are taking advantage of the last few weeks of great weather before we have to put on our coats!

Life Lately

Banana Republic tank (similar)
S.C & Co pants (similar)

Not going to lie, talking about my real life on this blog is sometimes daunting - hence the fact I haven't done TOO much of that. However, like I've stated many times, I'm trying to adapt a more personal vibe to my blog. I want you to see the real me and feel as though you are talking to a friend. For that reason, I thought I would make a post about life lately.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed me talk about how I have been so busy lately, to the point of putting my blog on the back burner for a few days. Well,  here is what has been happening lately. My husband and I own two properties in different cities and I am trying to tie up all the business concerning one of those properties. My husband mostly works in the city in which we call home, and so I have been doing a lot of the business on the other property all by myself. Thankfully he was able to take a week off of work to come help me, which has been a life saver!

On the personal side, I am going through a lot of changes regarding my career. I am basically at that awkward stage in my twenties where the next move needs to be made, but the options are endless. Not going to lie, choosing the right path is super stressful! Although I definitely understand how much of a privilege it is to have this issue in the first place, I cannot help but feel the anxiety surrounding this. Through these rather challenging times, I often remind myself of this quote: "God is more concerned about your character than your career". If you are not religious, replace that with "the universe" and it still applies ;)

I hope that you are all having an amazing end of August. I know for many of you this means back to school or back to work in full swing. One of the best memories I had this summer was spending quality time with my family outdoors through fitness. It is truly a blessing how my husband and I can remain close with our parents despite moving into a new stage in ours lives.

This post may be read as a rambling one, however that is an accurate description to how life is these days - all over the place! I would love to hear about your life, so please leave me a comment here or on Instagram.

How has life been for you lately?
