How To Style Leopard Print

Thursday, November 16, 2017

If you know me, you know that I have been wearing leopard print for YEARS. I was that girl in high school wearing the leopard print flats daily (noteworthy to state that they were not "in style" at the time), as a way to "break away" from the strict uniform guidelines. Not much has changed since those days, as I do proudly wear leopard print flats what feels like every other day.

I have learned a thing or two about wearing leopard print over the years, and so for this post I thought I would share with you my secret. The secret to styling leopard print fashionably is quite simple, and I apologize if you were looking to read a long-winded post on this. In order to style leopard print effectively and actually look good wearing it, is to keep the remainder of your outfit simple. Most of the time it is safe to say that you should wear neutrals to balance out the leopard print, however you can wear a bold pop of color so long as it is only one item, and the remainder of the outfit remains neutral. For example, with reference to this this look in particular, this coat not only looks great with an all black classic look, but could also work with a pop of purple (such as in the form of a scarf), so long as the remainder of the outfit remained in the neutral beige/black tone family. In order to give this look a more "stylish" and 2017 vibe, I paired it with chunky heels, tassel earrings and my Gucci Marmont bag - note that all of these are in the same color family.

The main thing to keep in mind is that your leopard print item needs to be the main focus in the entire outfit - the "masterpiece", if you will. Drawing the eye to too many different colors and textures would clash and cause for the outfit to look "cheap" regardless of the price-tag. Keep to the rule of only wearing one other bold item apart from the leopard print, and you are sure to be styling a very chic look.

What are you thoughts on how-to style leopard print?
